The silver date palm makes an excellent specimen
palm and has proved itself to be a durable alternative to the Canary
Island Date. The silver blue fronds make a nice accent to any landscape
as either a specimen palm or used among a grouping. It is a medium to
tall, solitary-stemmed palm, it has a very large crown of pinnate fronds
and fine leaflets with a silver-blue color. It is robust and grows in
temperate to tropical regions where it prefers full sun and well drained
soil.
