Ribbon Fan Palm

(Livistonia decipiens)

The Ribbon fan has deeply divided fronds, the long segments of which hang downward like ribbons for several  feet, adding to its graceful appearance. The full and weeping crown provides one of the most beautiful silhouettes. The Ribbon Fan Palm is a solitary- trunked species, but looks great when planted in small groupings. The leaf crown is especially rounded and is densely packed with 40 to 60 fronds, but the visual effect of the long weeping segments cause the frond to appear almost pinnate. This hardy palm is adaptable to most soil conditions as long a the soil is freely draining.
