This slow growing palm from New Caledonia has a
preference for shade and is known for the bright red frond that stands
erect like a feather when it first opens. This palm has an unusually
beautiful architectural aspect and makes a stunning specimen in a shaded
or under story landscape. The trunks display a gray to greenish gray
coloring with widely spaced light-colored rings. Mature fronds are deep
bluish green. This species like moist , humus-laden, but well-drained
soil. Besides having the gorgeously colored fronds, this palm has an
even more incredibly beautiful form.
