Ponytail Palm

(Nolina recurvata)

The Pony Tail is not really a palm at all but a member of the Lily family.  It is often referred to as “elephant’s foot” because of its bulbous base. It also has unique smooth-edged leaves. The ponytail makes a great accent in the garden, planted in the ground or in a container it will be of interest. It typically has a single head but often as it ages it will split several times giving numerous heads and adding character.
