Paurotis Palms

(Acoelorrhaphe wrightii)

Also know as the Everglades Palm because it frequently forms dense stands at the border of tree islands and coastal plains of moist or even swampy and monsoonal areas that are often flooded with fresh or brackish water.  The Paurotis Palm readily forms clumps with thin distinctive trunks that cluster in varying heights-the essence of the tropical look with a wild yet elegant aspect. The Paurotis palm thrives in full sun but tolerates partial shade. It is a true water lover, although it will survive in dry soil without the same rich soil conditions. This palm can be used as a specimen isolated in the expanse of a lawn or part of a border or screen for privacy.
