The Dioon spinulosum is a cycad that is a large, attractive fern type plant. The giant Dioon has a shinny, stiff, light to bright green leaves that grow in an upright nest shape. The typical landscape size for the giant Dioon is 5-12 feet across while the trunk of an adult specimen can reach up to 6 feet. The leaves are arranged like the vanes of a pinnate feather extending radically out from the trunk. This cycad makes a great accent to the landscape.
