Cat Palm

(Chamaedorea cataractarum)

This small clustering palm is virtually trunk less. Each stem splits just above soil level, and a beautiful, well rounded clump is eventually formed. Cat palm is useful as a low full shrub like accent in the tropical garden. The Cat palm likes to be used as an understory planting where it will tolerate good amounts of sun if ample water and fertilizer are available. It makes a great privacy screen without forming a wall since its mature height is approximately 5 to 6 feet tall.  It also does well as a potted palm both as an interior or patio palm.
