This magnificent palm, native to Madagascar, has a tall, solitary trunk and a dense crown of large fan-shaped silver-blue fronds which are very showy. The Bismarkia is one of the most beautiful and desirable fan palms for use in the landscape. Its large and formal appearance as well as its color makes it an excellent choice as a specimen palm for residential or commercial landscape. Preferring an open position and able to tolerate drought conditions once it is established, the Bismarkia makes an excellent landscape palm. This palm grows at a quick pace once the Bismarkia takes root and becomes established in the landscape. It needs a well drained medium and will benefit from a quality palm fertilizer as this is know to help enhance the silver-blue color.
