Areca Palm  -  Butterfly Palm

(Dypsis lutescens)

This robust, clustering palm is widely used in the landscape as a privacy screen or hedge, or it can be planted as a single clustering specimen.  The canes of the Areca feature a golden color with green fronds, which lend a colorful tropical palm to the landscape.  They are easy to maintain, but do require ample irrigation and fertilizer to look their best. Planted as a privacy screen they offer a whispy look that makes for a great backdrop for the landscape.
